Day 1:Pick up and transfer to Mount Elgon National Park
Meet with our guide and drive to Mount Elgon National Park, located in the Eastern part of Uganda. You will enjoy scenic views of the countryside as you travel towards the park passing through the town of Jinja. You will stopover for lunch along the way and after drive to Mbale town, check in to the Lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight as you get prepared for the hike ahead.

Day 2:Transfer to Budadiri and Hike to Sasa River Camp
Enjoy an early breakfast at your lodge or campsite. Drive to Budadiri trailhead where the hike will begin from. Budadiri is one of the most popular starting points for hiking Mount Elgon. As you begin your trek, enjoy the lush montane forests with a variety of bird species, butterflies, and unique plant life. Stop for a packed lunch along the way. Proceed to sasa River Camp in the afternoon. The camp offers a tranquil environment for resting. Relax, have dinner and drink plenty of fluids to prepare your body for higher altitudes. Day 3:Sasa River Camp to Mude.
Have breakfast at Sasa River Camp and begin the day’s hike from Sasa River Camp toward Mude Cave. The trail becomes steeper and enters alpine moorland, offering spectacular views of Mount Elgon’s slopes, valleys, and peaks. Enjoy the views and take occasional breaks for photos and to admire the changing landscape. Stop for lunch on the trail before continuing to Mude Cave. Later, arrive at Mude Cave in the afternoon and it’s surrounded by lush vegetation and has a peaceful atmosphere. After setting up camp, take some time to explore the cave and the surroundings. Have dinner, overnight at the Mude camp.

Day 4:Hike from Mude Cave to Waggagai Summit and Return to Mude Cave
Start your summit attempt early in the morning to ensure you have enough time to reach the summit and return before dark. From Mude Cave, continue to move through alpine vegetation and volcanic terrain. The summit trail takes you past various volcanic features, craters, and rocky ridges. As you ascend, you’ll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and crater lakes. Reach the summit of Mount Elgon, Wagagai Peak, at 4,321 meters. Take time to enjoy the views, take pictures, and celebrate reaching the highest point of Mount Elgon. Have a packed lunch at the summit while enjoying the breathtaking views. On a clear day, you can see far into Uganda and Kenya. After spending time at the summit, begin to hike back to Mude Cave. The descent is faster, but be cautious on the rocky terrain. Return to Mude Cave for a well-deserved rest. Set up camp and relax after the challenging but rewarding summit attempt.

Day 5: Mude Cave to Piswa Camp
Enjoy a hearty breakfast at Mude Cave and begin to descend. After packing up, start to move toward Piswa Camp. The trail will take you through beautiful montane forests, bamboo forests, and lower alpine zones. As you descend, enjoy the changing landscapes, including valleys and distant mountain peaks. You may see more wildlife, such as monkeys and various bird species. Stop for a picnic lunch during your hike. You’ll later arrive at Piswa Camp in the afternoon. Have some relaxation, and later enjoy dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 6:Piswa Camp to Budadiri and Transfer to Mbale.
Enjoy breakfast at Piswa Camp and begin your final descent back to Budadiri. The trail will take you through more forests and villages as you head toward the base of the mountain. Stop for a packed lunch along the way. You’ll reach the Budadiri trailhead by early afternoon, marking the end of your Mount Elgon climb. Transfer back to Mbale and check in to the hotel, have some relaxation and lunch. Enjoy the rest of the day in Mbale town.

Day 7:Transfer back to Kampala to End the Trip
Early morning after breakfast, check out from the lodge and transfer back to Kampala to catch your flight.
