You’ll pass through scenic hilly landscapes, local villages, and lush countryside. You will stop at the equator for photo opportunities, snacks, refreshments, and lunch in Masaka town. Day 2 Gorilla Tracking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

After your early morning breakfast, your guide will drive you to the Park Headquarters and join others for briefing before heading into the forest for your gorilla trek. This trek can last for between 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on the location of the mountain gorilla family on that particular day. Once you find the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them while observing their behavior, taking photographs before you return to the Park Headquarters for your certificate that confirms that you have tracked gorillas in Uganda. Rest a bit and head to Mgahinga to track the golden monkeys. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay after the long day.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Meet your guide after breakfast and proceed to search for the golden monkeys. Like the previous day, you receive a briefing from the ranger guide who will share information on what to expect while searching for the golden monkeys in the Virunga volcanoes. After this short brief, you will start your hike up in search of the golden monkeys.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, begin your journey to Kibale National Park, home to Uganda’s famous chimpanzee population. The drive takes about 5-6 hours, passing through the beautiful western Ugandan countryside, with stunning views of tea plantations and small villages. Check-in to the lodge upon arrival at Kibale. After settling in, you can relax and enjoy the surroundings of Kibaale’s lush forests.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale National Park.

After breakfast at 7:00 am, head to Kibale Park Headquarters for your chimpanzee tracking briefing. Begin your chimpanzee tracking through the forest with an expert guide. The trek can range from 1-4 hours, depending on the chimpanzees’ location. Once you find the chimpanzees, you’ll have 1 hour to observe their behavior, interactions, and daily activities, such as feeding, grooming, and playing. Capture the moment (without flash) and enjoy this rare opportunity to interact with these fascinating primates. Afterward, return to the lodge for lunch and proceed for a walk in Bigodi. Take a nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, located just outside Kibale National Park. This area is great for birdwatching and observing other wildlife like black-and-white colobus monkeys. The wetland walk is easy and provides a great opportunity to learn about the park’s flora and fauna. Return to the lodge to relax, enjoy dinner, and reflect on your chimpanzee and wetland experience.
