Day 1: Arrival in Kigali for a city tour

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will meet with our experienced driver-guide and transfer to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a guided tour of Kigali, one of Africa’s cleanest and most welcoming capitals. Visit historical sites, vibrant markets, and the Kigali Genocide Memorial for a deeper understanding of Rwanda’s history. Relax at your hotel for the evening as you prepare for your safari adventure.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park for an Afternoon Game Drive

After breakfast, depart for Akagera National Park in eastern Rwanda. The scenic drive offers glimpses of Rwanda’s famous hills and rural life. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge, enjoy lunch, and prepare for your first game drive in the park. Akagera is home to a rich diversity of wildlife, including elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, antelope species, and, with luck, lions and rhinos that have been successfully reintroduced.

Day 3: Full Day Game Drive in Akagera National Park

Today, rise early for a full day of game viewing. Explore the northern plains of Akagera, known for excellent wildlife sightings. Search for predators such as lions, hyenas, and leopards, and enjoy sightings of herbivores including zebras, topis, waterbucks, and giraffes. Drive back to your lodge for a hot delicious luch and after proceed with an evening game drive, soaking in the park’s varied landscapes from open grasslands to wooded hills and wetlands. Drive back to lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Boat Safari on Lake Ihema and Relaxation or Optional Activities

After breakfast, enjoy a peaceful boat safari on Lake Ihema, known for its rich aquatic wildlife. Watch pods of hippos in the water and crocodiles stretch out along the shores. The lake is also a bird lover’s paradise, with sightings of African fish eagles, kingfishers, cormorants, and herons. After the boat trip, spend the afternoon relaxing at the lodge or opt for additional activities such as a guided nature walk or a community visit around the park.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive- Return to Kigali & Departure.

Enjoy a final morning game drive, offering one more chance to spot wildlife and take in the beauty of Akagera’s landscapes. After the game drive, check out and begin your journey back to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for craft shopping or lunch in the city. Later, you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your Rwanda Wildlife Safari.
