Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Masaka for a Coffee Farm Tour

Depart from Kampala to Masaka, which takes about 3 hours by road. Upon arrival, Check in to your accommodation in Masaka and have lunch. Head out for your coffee farm tour. Visit Kaamama Coffee Farm that produce high-quality Robusta beans. You will have a guided tour, where you can learn about Coffee cultivation and harvesting methods, the various types of coffee grown in the region, the post-harvest process: from drying and processing to roasting, Sustainable and organic farming practices. Enjoy tasting different coffee samples from the farm and learn how to distinguish the flavors, aromas, and textures of various beans. Return to your accommodation and freshen up. Head out to a local café or restaurant for a cup of coffee. Here, you can enjoy a cup of fresh coffee brewed using beans from the farms you’ve visited. Have dinner and you can get a chance to taste local dishes like luwombo (a traditional Ugandan dish of chicken or beef cooked with vegetables and served in a banana leaf) paired with a refreshing drink. If you’re up for it, take an evening stroll through Masaka town or relax at your accommodation to reflect on your day.

Day 2: Coffee Workshops, Scenic Views, and Local Culture.

Enjoy a coffee-inspired breakfast at your accommodation and attend a coffee workshop. Many coffee farms and local roasters in the Masaka region host workshops where visitors can learn about, different brewing techniques (French Press, Espresso, etc.), the basics of becoming a barista, how to make the perfect cup of coffee using beans from Uganda. Take part in a roasting demonstration where you’ll see how coffee beans are roasted to perfection. You might even get the chance to roast beans yourself. After, head to Lake Nabugabo, a serene freshwater lake near Masaka. Take some time to enjoy the natural beauty of the region. You could take a boat ride on Lake Nabugabo or simply relax by the lakeside. The area is also known for its birdwatching opportunities. Enjoy a lunch at a lakeside. In the afternoon, explore Masaka’s local culture and craft markets. This is a great time to buy some coffee-related souvenirs, such as locally crafted coffee mugs, handwoven baskets, or coffee beans in small bags. Visit a nearby local village to experience the lifestyle of the Baganda people. Drive back to Kampala to end your trip.
