Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Rwenzori Mountains National Park

You will be picked up by our tour guide and drive to Kasese town and then to the Rwenzori Mountains National Park. Enjoy the scenic beauty along the way. You will be amazed by the landscape, tea plantations, and the overlooking views of the Rwenzori Mountains as you get closer to Kasese. You will stop at the equator crossing to take some photos and later in Mbarara town to have lunch. Once you reach Kasese, transfer to your Hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Hike from Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba Hut

Enjoy breakfast early in the morning and meet with your guides and porters to transfer to Nyakalengija (the trailhead). Begin Trek to Nyabitaba Hut. Start the trek from Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba Hut. This initial section involves a steady walk through montane forest and alpine meadows, offering great views of the surrounding valleys. Arrive at Nyabitaba Hut after a relatively short day of hiking, you’ll reach Nyabitaba Hut, where you’ll rest for the night and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Overnight: Nyabitaba Hut.

Day 3: Nyabitaba Hut to John Matte Hut

Have breakfast at Nyabitaba Hut and then trek to John Matte Hut. You’ll trek from Nyabitaba Hut to John Matte Hut and the trail goes through dense forest, swampy areas, and stream crossings. The trek will take 5-6 hours, covering around 7 km. Have lunch along the way and then arrive at John Matte Hut after a rewarding trek, which offers excellent views of the Rwenzori’s glaciers. Overnight: Stay at John Matte Hut.

Day 4: John Matte Hut to Bujuku Hut

Enjoy breakfast early morning before you start your trek to Bujuku. You’ll trek to Bujuku Hut and the trail takes you through marshy ground, bamboo forests, and alpine meadows. You’ll also cross the upper Bujuku valley on your way to Bujuku Hut. The trek is about 5 km and takes around 4-5 hours. Once you arrive at Bujuku Hut, take time to relax and enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding peaks and Bujuku Lake as you also enjoy your packed lunch. Overnight: Bujuku Hut.

Day 5: Bujuku Hut to Elena Hut

Have breakfast at Bujuku Hut and the start your Trek to Elena Hut. The Hike is a bit more strenuous and the path leads you through rocky terrain and snow-covered paths, with incredible views of the surrounding glaciers. The trek will take 5-6 hours and cover 6 km. After the challenging climb, you’ll arrive at Elena Hut, where you can rest and prepare for the summit attempt the next day. Overnight: Stay at Elena Hut.

Day 6: Elena Hut to Margherita Peak and Descent to Kitandara Hut.

Have an early breakfast at Elena Hut. And Start your summit push to Margherita Peak (5,109 meters). This is the most challenging part of the trek, involving glacial terrain and rocky paths, but the reward is spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. The ascent takes around 6-7 hours. After reaching the summit, descend to Kitandara Hut, which is located near the beautiful Kitandara Lake. The descent will take about 2-3 hours. Lunch and Rest at Kitandara Hut. Enjoy your lunch and take some time to relax and take in the breathtaking surroundings. Overnight: Stay at Kitandara Hut.

Day 7: Kitandara Hut to Guy Yeoman Hut

Have an early breakfast at Kitandara Hut and then trek to Guy Yeoman Hut. The trek takes you through alpine meadows and rocky ridges, gradually descending towards Guy Yeoman Hut. Along the way, enjoy views of the Rwenzori glaciers and mountain peaks. This section takes about 5-6 hours and covers 8 km. Arrival at Guy Yeoman Hut after a rewarding trek, enjoy dinner and some relaxation at a peaceful and scenic camp. Overnight: Guy Yeoman Hut.

Day 8: Guy Yeoman Hut to Nyabitaba Hut

Have breakfast at Guy Yeoman Hut and trek to Nyabitaba Hut. Begin your descent back to Nyabitaba Hut. The trail is long but gradual, passing through tropical forests, and swampy terrain. The trek will take around 6-7 hours and covers 10 km. After a long day of hiking, and have some lunch and relaxation and then you’ll have another night in the mountains. Overnight: Stay at Nyabitaba Hut.

Day 9: Nyabitaba Hut to Nyakalengija (End of Trek)

After breakfast, begin your descent to Nyakalengija (1,600 meters). This section is a relatively easy 3-4 hour descent through rainforest and meadows. Have your packed lunch and then transfer to Kasese. After reaching Nyakalengija, transfer to Kasese for a rest. Have dinner and enjoy your final night in Kasese.

Day 10: Departure to Kampala

Have breakfast, check out and then embark on your journey back to Entebbe to end your trip. You will meet with your guide and drive to Entebbe International Airport.
