Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe and Transfer to Bwindi

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by our driver-guide and set off immediately on the scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The route takes you through bustling roadside markets, rolling hills, and fertile farmlands before reaching the Ankole region, famous for its long-horned cattle. Lunch will be enjoyed en route in Mbarara before continuing into the highlands of Kigezi, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa,” with terraced hillsides and mist-covered valleys. By late afternoon, you will arrive at the lodge, surrounded by the calls of exotic birds and the cool mountain air. Dinner will be served as you prepare for the thrilling gorilla trek ahead.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi

After an early breakfast, you will report to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing before beginning your gorilla trek. Led by an experienced ranger guide, you will venture deep into the rainforest, navigating steep slopes and thick vegetation as you track one of the habituated gorilla families. The trek can be challenging but the reward is an awe-inspiring hour in the presence of these gentle giants, watching the silverback keep watch, mothers nursing their young, and tumbling through the undergrowth. After this unforgettable encounter, you will return to the lodge for lunch and a well-earned rest, with the option of a cultural walk to meet the Batwa people in the afternoon.

Day 3: Bwindi to Queen Elizabeth National Park (Ishasha Sector)

Today’s journey takes you north through the scenic Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions. As you drive through the open plains dotted with fig trees, keep an eye out for these unique predators resting in the branches. You may also encounter herds of buffalo, elephants, and Uganda kob grazing in the grasslands. After your game drive, you will continue to your lodge in the park, arriving in time to relax and enjoy sunset views before dinner.

Day 4: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Your day begins at dawn with a game drive across the Kasenyi plains, where the morning light reveals elephants moving in family groups, lions on the prowl, and an abundance of antelope. The backdrop of the Rwenzori Mountains adds to the beauty of the scene, creating perfect conditions for photography. After breakfast and some rest at the lodge, you will head out in the afternoon for a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. This natural waterway is home to one of the largest concentrations of hippos in the world, as well as crocodiles, elephants, and a dazzling variety of birdlife. You will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park Exploration

Today offers more time to explore the park’s varied landscapes. You may start with a morning game drive in the Mweya Peninsula or venture toward the crater lakes region, where rolling hills hide scenic lakes formed by ancient volcanic activity. Wildlife viewing here is often complemented by breathtaking vistas, making it a photographer’s dream. In the afternoon, you can enjoy another short game drive or relax at your lodge, taking in the tranquil setting and perhaps spotting wildlife from your veranda before a final dinner in the heart of the park.

Day 6: Return to Kampala/Entebbe

After a relaxed breakfast, you will begin your drive back to Kampala or Entebbe, retracing your route through the beautiful countryside. Along the way, you will stop at the Equator for photographs and a chance to browse the local craft stalls for souvenirs. The journey offers time to reflect on your adventures, from the misty mountains of Bwindi to the vast plains of Queen Elizabeth. You will arrive in the late afternoon, where your safari concludes with a drop-off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of an unforgettable Ugandan journey.
